23-year-old man pleads guilty to sex crimes

Readers in Memphis, Tennessee, may be interested to know about a recent case involving sexual misconduct. The 23-year-old man involved in the case recently pled guilty to sex crimes against a 14-year-old girl.

Even though the young man's parents gave emotional appeals to the judge, the man was sentenced to 30 years in prison. The man is also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. The specific sex crimes he pled guilty to were sexual battery and touching of a child for lustful purposes. His attorney asked the judge to defer sentencing for two weeks so that the man could take care of things with his family, but the judge refused.

This case represents how being charged with sex crimes can have a very serious effect on a person's personal and professional life. It is important to note that there are a number of crimes that fall into the sex crimes category. These crimes usually involve illegal or coerced sexual activity on one person by another. Every state has its own laws against sexual misconduct.

When someone is labeled a sex offender it means that person has been convicted of one or more sex crimes, and for that reason, that person's name is then added to state and federal sex offender registries. When a person's name is added to a sex offender registry, it can have very serious consequences on his or her life, including restrictions on where that person can live.

As the above case illustrates, being charged and convicted of a sex crime can have devastating effects on a person's life. It is therefore necessary for anyone accused of such crimes to know their rights in order to successfully defend themselves against the charges. Failure to do so could have damaging lifelong consequences.
