Former Tennessee Titan cheerleader accused of sex crimes

Recently, a former Tennessee Titan cheerleader has been in the news once again for her age. This time, however, not in a good way. Instead of being praised for making the cheerleading team as one of the older women on the squad, she is now being charged for a sexual offense involving a young boy.

The woman has not been a cheerleader for four years now, but when she was, she became semi-famous for making the team as a 38 year old at the time, when most of the women on the team were in their twenties. In a sad turn of events, she is now being accused of sexually assaulting a 12 year old boy.

According to police, she was visiting a friend's home in Tennessee when she followed the boy into the bathroom where she allegedly touched the boy and tried to seduce him. The police report states that the former cheerleader stated that she was drunk that night, and simply confused the boy with a man that was also at the house. After being arrested, she was released on a $30,000 bond. If she is found guilty, she could spend more than eight years in prison.

As this case points out, being charged with a sex crime can have very serious consequences. If a defendant is found guilty of a sexual assault charge, the judge will determine how the defendant will be penalized and sentenced. There are several factors judges rely on when making their decisions. Usually, the relevant state criminal statutes will set a maximum and minimum prison term, along with fines and other penalties.

If a person is charged with a sex crime, it is important for the defendant to protect his or her legal rights. An experienced criminal law attorney can help defend against a prosecution, and can help to minimize a sentence if a defendant is found guilty.
