Memphis woman robbed in driveway

Memphis residents who pay any attention to the news know that violent crimes receive a lot of coverage. Typically, the public can be captivated by news stories about crimes, and often the person accused of doing the crime is believed to be guilty before they even are charged with the crime. Because the public is so quick to judge, defendants in a violent crime situation, such as robbery, should be aware of their legal rights. Even accusations can be harmful for those accused as their personal reputation can forever be ruined.

A local woman coming home from church was allegedly robbed in her driveway. When she opened her car door, she was met with a man holding a gun to her face. The man allegedly demanded her purse and jewelry. The woman said that her purse had $225 in cash along with casino tickets. At this time no suspects have been arrested.

Still, should someone be identified as a suspect in this case, they may immediately face public scrutiny and judgment. Defendants in a violent crime situation such as robbery should also know that they have a hard legal road ahead of them. Because the public is so quick to convict those accused, it is important for defendants to have a strong defense in court. A legal professional skilled in criminal law can help a defendant with their case.

Experienced defense attorneys can conduct an independent investigation of the crime scene, put together expert witnesses and use forensics to build the very best legal defense for their client. Those who are convicted of violent crimes face long prison sentences and high fines, so it is in their best interest to do everything they can to lessen or eliminate the charges against them.
