Memphis residents hope to raise their families in relatively safe neighborhoods . Unfortunately, as in all cities, residents cannot prevent all unsafe activity and crimes such as robbery does occur. Memphis police try to make sure those responsible for the crimes are caught and prosecuted. This aggressive prosecution can be intimidating for those accused of a crime.

A Memphis man who was working in his backyard was robbed and shot in the face this past Fourth of July. The man who was loading a broken truck was robbed in the morning in his very own yard. The victim suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Regional One Health. Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person who allegedly robbed and shot the man. Neighbors are shocked that the crime occurred so close to them and are upset over the shooting.

When a person is accused of a crime such as robbery they might feel confused and afraid. Prosecutors can be extremely aggressive in their investigation and questioning. Defendants need an advocate on their side to make sure that everything is done to protect their reputation. An attorney skilled in criminal law can help an accused person tell his side of the story. These attorneys can protect the rights and freedoms of their clients in regards to assault charges and other criminal charges. They can put together a team to gather evidence to support a defense, including forensic analysis. This evidence can help the defense negotiate with prosecutors and maybe even avoid a court battle. A criminal conviction may lead to a long prison sentence. It is important for those accused of such crimes to know that they only get one chance to hear the words “not guilty”.

Criminal activity in Memphis is not tolerated. Those who are convicted face fines and prison sentences. Making sure that a defendant is able to tell his or her side of the story is crucial. Just because someone is accused of a crime does not make them guilty.
