Proposed Tennessee law lets DNA be charged with crime

In some criminal matters, the statute of limitation may run out before a suspect is ever found. A proposed Tennessee law seeks to prevent this from happening in the future by allowing law enforcement to charge unidentified DNA with violent crimes.

Widow indicted on kidnapping and murder charges

Readers in Memphis may have heard about a recent abduction of two girls after a man killed their mother and older sister. The incident ended when the man fatally shot himself as law enforcement officers were approaching. The girls were rescued safely. The widow of the Mississippi man has now been indicted on two charges of murder and kidnapping.

Memphis employer faces murder charges

Recently, a Memphis employer went from firing an employee to being charged with his death, all in one day. After firing the employee for not showing up to work, the employer later saw the employee trying to steal from him. Police say the employer then chased the employee down, and, after beating him repeatedly, the man died. The employer is now being charged with second degree murder.

Memphis man arrested for murder of Jerry Lee Lewis's bass player

Music legend Jerry Lee Lewis is currently mourning the loss of his bass player, B.B. Cunningham. Cunningham was shot and killed while working as a security guard at an apartment complex in Memphis. Police have arrested a suspect who now faces murder charges.

Country singer Randy Travis charged with DWI and possible felony

Tennessee country music fans may be interested in knowing the latest criminal charges that have been filed against Randy Travis. He was arrested on Aug. 7 in Texas on suspicion of drunk driving, and he may also be facing a grand jury indictment on a violent felony, in this case retaliation against the police or obstruction of justice.
