Defending Your Professional Future After A DUI
For pilots, commercial drivers and other professionals, a DUI conviction is more than a costly mistake. It can also be a career killer.
At The Law Office of Massey McClusky Fuchs & Ballenger in Memphis, our lawyers represent professionals who have been accused of drunk driving. We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your case and your options.
Protecting Your License And Your Reputation
Certain professions have licensing requirements, and a DUI conviction could result in suspension of that license. For example:
- If you are a professional driver, you will lose your commercial driver’s license (CDL). While you can get a restricted license to drive to home, work and school, you cannot drive a commercial vehicle. You may be able to get your CDL back after one year.
- If you are a pilot, you must report the DUI conviction to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) within 60 days. While your pilot’s license may not be suspended for a single conviction, a second conviction would result in loss of your license.
- If you are a doctor, dentist or nurse convicted of DUI, you may be subject to a disciplinary proceeding by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
- If you are a business executive, teacher or other professional, your employer may question your judgment.
Our goal as your attorneys is to protect your driver’s license, your professional license and your reputation.
