Memphis residents have heard about their fair share of crime. Memphis is one of the top cities in the country for crime rates. Violent crimes, such as assault, happen frequently. These crimes are aggressively prosecuted by the police. Those who are convicted of assault can face prison time and fines, and can also find the criminal justice system intimidating.

According to reports, a man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted another man in Memphis. The defendant allegedly approached the man with a knife at the corner of Lamar Avenue and Airways Boulevard. Police allege he attacked the victim with a knife and a witness pulled him off. The man was arrested and is charged with aggravated assault and attempted first-degree murder. He is in jail on a $750,000 bond.

Those who are accused of a violent crime can face an uphill battle in court. Everyone seems to be against the defendant, including the media. The mere mention of an assault charge can ruin a person’s personal and professional reputation. The right criminal defense approach will likely address these hardships that the accused faces. Defendants can conduct their own investigations, bring in expert testimony and question the relevance of eyewitnesses. The right defense approach may also establish an alibi and help the defendant tell his side of the story. The defense may also call for negotiating with the prosecution.

When a person is charged with a violent crime they can feel like the whole world is against them. A strong defense is the best way to protect their legal rights and receive a fair trial.
