Most Memphis residents are familiar with the crime rate in their city. It seems like every time you turn on the local news there are more reports of violent crimes such as murder. This past weekend has been no exception.

Four people were shot and killed this past weekend, Friday through Saturday night. Around 11 pm Friday a man was shot and killed during a robbery in one of the blocks of Staten. At 3:40 am a man and woman were killed around Haven Court. Finally, around 9 p.m. Saturday night another person was shot and killed in an apparent robbery elsewhere. There have been no arrests in any of these murders. A national search is underway for a new Memphis police director. The mayor of Memphis is also pledging to crack down on gangs.

With the increase of attention on violence across Memphis those who are arrested for violent crimes may face a hard time in court. Courts aggressively prosecute those who are accused of violent crimes and there can be serious penalties for murder charges including a long prison sentence. A legal professional skilled in criminal defense can help a person charged with a serious crime by investigating every possible defense strategy and making sure no stone is left unturned.

For those who have been accused of a serious crime a lot is on the line. Their reputation, their livelihood and their family can all be affected by the arrest. They might want to consider consulting an experienced professional.
