The Memphis Shelby County Crime Commission has provided its report for the first quarter of 2020, detailing an interesting mix of crime trends within Memphis and Shelby County.  Though these months have been anything but typical, the overall crime rate in Memphis remained largely the same.

Crimes such as property theft, motor vehicle theft, and domestic violence saw a slight reduction, while more violent crimes such as homicide and robbery actually saw an increase when compared to the same months last year. Homicide increased by 18.9% within Memphis, and 21.2% within Shelby County altogether. Robberies also increased by 21.2%.
