Traffic accidents happen all the time in Memphis and throughout the country. Although someone is usually blamed for causing these incidents, it isn’t all that often that criminal charges result from a traffic accident. But, that appears to be the case in a recent car accident that occurred in Memphis.

According to reports, the car accident in question occurred on June 22 during the evening hours at the intersection of Interstate 240 and Interstate 55. Three vehicles were involved in the collision. The reports indicate that the collision was allegedly caused by a 26-year-old man in a white vehicle who made an improper lane change, resulting in a crash into a SUV. The collision forced the SUV into another vehicle.

Sadly, the collision caused the death of a 5-year-old child who was a passenger in the SUV. Three other people involved in the crash were also injured. In the aftermath of the crash, the 26-year-old driver of the white vehicle was arrested on a number of charges, including vehicular homicide charges. According to the reports, the charges may be primarily based on statements by eyewitnesses who reportedly stated that the suspect was driving recklessly in the moments before the three-vehicle accident.

Any type of criminal charges that involve the death of another individual are serious, ranging from manslaughter charges all the way up to murder charges. When residents of Memphis are facing these types of charges, they need to analyze every potential option for presenting a sound criminal defense strategy, since they will face a determined prosecution effort.
